CaringBridge Rolling Out Major Service Enhancements in early 2009

In early 2009, CaringBridge will roll out several significant user–requested service enhancements aimed at making personal CaringBridge Web sites easier to use, visually streamlined and more customizable. New features, including multilingual preferences of English or Spanish, will improve the overall site experience for authors, patients, family and friends.


Site–Wide Enhancements


CaringBridge Available in Spanish

CaringBridge is used in more than 190 countries around the world. Adding multi–language capability (starting with Spanish) allows us to strive toward our mission statement of “bringing together a global community of care.” Simply click “Español” in the top right–hand corner of your screen to view CaringBridge.org in Spanish.

More Site–Wide Enhancements

  • Confirmation of e–mail addresses helps ensure you receive the CaringBridge communications you want
  • New web page size of 1024 by 768 resolution meets the standard screen resolution of most users
  • Streamlined page designs
  • Improved site experience for vision–challenged users with screen readers
  • Easier website creation process: improved style selections and privacy level descriptions
  • Improved inline messaging and tool tips throughout the site

My Profile

  • My CaringBridge tab provides one-stop access to sites you created, sites where you've signed a Guestbook, or registered to receive Journal email notifications. New features and tips and important messages from CaringBridge also appear on this tab
  • My Information tab allows you to view and update your current profile information

Journal

  • Add a photo to any journal entry by uploading a photo directly from your Journal or by selecting an existing photo from your photo album

Photos

  • Expanded capacity now allows authors to upload up to 51 photos
  • Drag and drop feature provides quick organization of your photos
  • Increased file size of 2MB per photo

Website Settings

Select a tab to update your website information, choose a new style template, change the privacy level or view services available to CaringBridge website authors.

Website Info Tab:

  • Complete selection of sponsors, alliances and healthcare providers to appear as your site “sponsor”

  • Choose from more site style groups, including a "New This Month" category

  • Select or modify your site privacy setting: new, clearer descriptions of site privacy, ranging from Low (open to all visitors) to Highest (open only to visitors with e-mail addresses you specify) helps authors select the setting that meets their need

Author Services Tab:

  • Create a Quick Note: similar to a “Post–It” note, Quick Note allows authors to create and post a brief update or important message on their site for visitors to read
  • Access to CaringBook where you can turn your unique CaringBridge experience into a full-color book
  • Generate registered user reports, which you may now save to your computer for future reference

Site Editing

  • Preview page updates before you save to see exactly how your entry will look
  • User sessions have been expanded to two hours and partial entries are automatically saved
  • New text editor that is compatible with multiple web browsers
  • Add up to 10 links — with descriptions — to your Resources tab
